Automate sending W-2s to terminated workers

Do you want to work with a company that listens to your feedback? Well, Fingercheck is your company! We love our customers and their suggestions. Your opinions help us design innovative products that you want to use. That’s how this project came about: Users requested a way to automate W-2 Wage and Tax Statements for terminated employees.

So we got to work on it. If you have a request you’d like to add, remember you can do that in our app.

As you know, Fingercheck automatically generates your company’s W-2s in the first week of the year. Our system sends an announcement to all employees when the forms are available, and then employees get their W-2 forms in the app. 

But terminated employees did not receive that message. Until now, you had to send end-of-year forms manually to each terminated employee. We have added an automated email feature to the Payroll tab. Instead of the time-consuming task of manually sending a W-2 to each terminated employee, you can now send all W-2s electronically at one time. That email includes a link so a former employee can get their W-2s and 1099 forms.

Here’s how it works

In Fingercheck, go to the Payroll tab and then to Forms & Notices and then Annual. You will see a button to email W-2s automatically to terminated employees for a tax year. (A similar button also is available to email W-2s to individual employees.) 

For terminated employees, click the icon under Terminated W2 YYYY or Terminated 1099 YYYY. If you want to view a report, click View.

To only view a report, click View.

If you’d like to send emails to terminated employees, click the mail icon under Terminated W2 YYYY or Terminated 1099 YYYY.

When the confirmation pop-up window appears, click OK.

An email will be sent to each terminated employee at the personal email address on file.
