The news of software giant Salesforce (CRM) announcing an agreement to acquire popular messaging software platform Slack Technologies (WORK), signals an ever-growing shift toward automation business processes.

Salesforce will acquire Slack for $27.7 billion – making it the largest ever acquisition for the cloud software giant. Salesforce said the deal will be “transformative for customers and the industry” and it will “create the operating system for the new way to work, uniquely enabling companies to grow and succeed in the all-digital world.”

Since the start of the pandemic experts have signaled the arrival of working remote and a “work from anywhere” world that COVID-19 brought forth. Many in the tech world also predicted the acquisition of Slack despite denials by Salesforce CEO, Marc Benioff.

Business Automation Increase

The benefits of business process automation are obvious. And the Slack acquisition is another example of that. Over the last several months, automation by companies of all sizes has moved in this direction. Those small businesses who once believed automation was not right for them, can no longer ignore its advantage.

Automation can reduce cycle time, eliminate errors, minimize rework, reduce labor costs, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve customer experience. However, it’s important to measure its effect accurately and recycle what automation gives back to business owners. Done properly businesses can see a return of time, money saved, and more satisfied customers that in turn, can increase its visibility and customer base.
