Triggers and Actions keeps the work flowing

We are excited to announce the release of Triggers and Actions, the next phase in Workflows, our system designed to save time for small business owners.

Workflows is a tool that can be used to automate repeatable HR tasks such as onboarding checklists, employee surveys, training and expense requests. All of the tasks can be managed in one place. Workflows gives you the ability to create, automate and track these tasks. And now, when you trigger an event, Workflows automatically responds with an action.

Triggers are the key to automating Workflows. Triggers allow you to start a workflow as soon as a specific condition is met. For example, you can trigger a workflow to start when a new employee is activated or a team member changes their profile information. Once the trigger is activated, a series of steps will be executed automatically. Fingercheck’s first available trigger is the status change of a field in the Employee profile. This trigger can be created from the Trigger tab on the Workflows page, or you can add a trigger when creating or editing a workflow. Triggers that you create are available for all of the workflows in your library.

Actions are the next step in automating workflows. Fingercheck’s first available action is to automatically send an email. Within a workflow, you can add this action by clicking Add > Action or by clicking Add Action within a group or tasks and actions. Similar to tasks, you can move actions up and down within a workflow.

How does it work?

You’ve hired a new employee, Taylor, who needs a uniform for the position. Taylor has completed the onboarding process, and the next step is the uniform ordering process.

You Trigger a workflow to handle that task. The Trigger is New employee needs a uniform order. The Action that occurs is that Workflows sends a form for Taylor to order what is needed.

This eliminates the need for Taylor to contact you with the order request, which saves time and creates a digital record of the process for accountability. 

What does that mean for business owners?
