It’s important for your business to create a clock-in and out policy to comply with labor laws!
Use these steps:
✔️ Check eligibility: Make sure your business is covered by the FLSA, which applies to hourly or nonexempt salaried workers.
✔️ Automate time tracking: Replace paper timesheets with swipe cards, biometric systems, kiosk-based clocks, or time clock apps.
✔️ Set break and overtime rules: Define break and overtime policies per FLSA, including paid rest breaks and 1.5x pay for overtime.
✔️ Implement rules: Enforce clocking out for lunch and require employees to leave their desks during breaks.
