Turnover Rate

Turnover rate, also known as employee attrition or staff turnover, is a metric used to measure the number of employees who leave an organization over a specific period, relative to the average number of employees in that same period.

It is often expressed as a percentage and is calculated by dividing the number of separations (voluntary or involuntary) by the average number of employees during the period, then multiplying by 100. High turnover rates can indicate issues such as employee dissatisfaction, lack of engagement, poor management, or a lack of growth opportunities.

A low turnover rate is generally a sign of a stable and satisfied workforce. Employers use turnover rate data to assess their retention strategies and improve workplace culture.
